Comic Movie of the Year?

What a year for comic geeks. Iron Man, Hulk, Batman, Punisher, Hellboy, and The Spirit all have films this year. Wolverine news is out there, and rumors abound for The Watchmen. It's inspiring to see great flicks coming out, but for every Iron Man, we have a Spiderman 3 or Fantastic Four. It's a double edged sword, and I hope Hollywood moguls realize that it is possible to make a movie that's high quality AND makes money! Not everything has to be an indie favorite like Persepolis or a high budget shit bird like Ghost Rider. Ugh. Nic Cage needs to be banned from making movies. Anyways, here's hoping that the rest of the year is 100% awesome! Show your support by wearing one of these to the Dark Knight on July 18th.

When Comics and Video Games Go Wrong

Everybody loves Lego's. I dare you. No, I DOUBLE dare you to try and find someone who doesn't dig Lego's. But Lego Star Wars the video game?! Is that REALLY necessary?! And now there's Lego Batman the video game. What the hell is the point of that?! I thought the genius behind Lego's is the fact that you get to build stuff yourself. In real life. With things. But no, now they've got a video game based on a building block toy set based on a comic book. Why?! And before you say "But Lego Star Wars was FUUUN! Lego Batman looks FUUUN!" Yes it was and yes it does, but why does it have to be Legos? At this point you might as well make origami He-Man the video game or Flintstone Vitamins the videogame. Let me know your thoughts on this whole debacle.

Holy G-Force, Batman!

Cliff Chiang recently unearthed some old anime and manga inspired Justice League images. Sure they may be "shameless pastiches" of classic Japanese characters, but I'll be damned if they don't look amazing! Check out that Batman below and the Giant Robo inspired Superman.

Chip Kidd Is Having A Crisis

To anyone that judges books by their cover, you probably know the name Chip Kidd. Hell, if you've ever even seen a cover and thought how much you wanted that book, then it was probably done by designer Kidd. He's the brains behind covers to Jurassic Park, David Sedaris, Schultz, and dozens of other books you've loved the covers of. Chip now gets to show his love of Batman and DC comics by giving the redesign treatment for Final Crisis and Trinity. Check out Newsarama's interview with Chip Kidd for details on the project.
